Programmes Offered

The Certificate of Philosophy is a one-year programme that aims at developing students’ capacity to understand the Greek history of philosophy from the ancient and medieval periods. Orienting the students to the socio-cultural contents of human dynamics, and analysing different philosophical thoughts of general and applied ethics, the psychological nature of the human person, and its development. The programme aims to help students realise the applicability and relevance of philosophy as a way of life.

The Diploma of Philosophy is a two-year programme that aims to develop students’ capacity to understand the modern and contemporary history of philosophy. Analysing the contribution of the scientific world of modern and post-modern towards the shaping of philosophy. The students are guided to investigate different philosophical schools of thought, major themes of modern and contemporary philosophy, the contribution of philosophy in human life,  through politics, science, technology, justice, African humanism, the essence of reality, human dignity, duty and responsibility, leadership, and public administration, co-existence in a multicultural world, technological advancement and human enhancement through transhumanism, articulating the applicability of the law and human rights and importance of co-existence of beings.

The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy is a three-year programme which aims to develop students’ capacity to understand the origin and history of philosophy from the ancient, medieval, modern, and contemporary periods, analysing different philosophical schools of thought, major themes of philosophy, issues addressed by philosophy, through key philosophers in different centuries. Investigating the contribution of philosophy in human life, science, and technology, analysing societal dimensions of politics, justice, human rights, the essence of life, duty and responsibility, leadership and public administration, co-existence in a multicultural world, technological advancement and human enhancement through transhumanism, in relation to major philosophical problems of God, Man, and the World.
